The Ultimate Student PG Checklist

1. Calculate the Total Cost (No Hidden Fees)

Ensure you ask: Is electricity charged separately? Are food, WiFi, and laundry included in the rent? A cheap PG room that charges ₹2,000 extra for electricity and ₹3,000 for food is actually much more expensive than a flat ₹8,000 all-inclusive package.

2. Verify Food Quality (Ask for a Trial Meal)

Food is the single most important factor for long-term health and happiness. Don't rely on photos. Visit the PG mess during lunch or dinner and request a trial plate. At Arya Boys PG, we encourage parents and students to eat with us during their visit.

3. Check Location Proximity

Your accommodation should be close enough to your college to allow walking or cheap shared auto commuting. Ideally, it should be within 1.5 - 3 Kms of your university main gates.

4. Review Security Features

Ask about 24/7 security guards, entrance gate locks, visitor entry registers, and active CCTV camera placements in common areas and corridors.

5. Test the WiFi Speed

With online classes, exam submissions, and coding assignments, you need fast, unlimited WiFi. Run a quick speed test on your phone using the PG's WiFi during your visit.

6. Inspect Power Backup Systems

Greater Noida summers can be extremely hot. Make sure the PG has a functioning diesel generator or inverter backup system to support lights, fans, and WiFi during power outages.

7. Confirm Laundry & Housekeeping Services

Check if cleaning staff cleans rooms and bathrooms daily. Also, find out how laundry works — is there an in-house washing machine you can use, or do they have a laundry boy?

8. Room Ventilation and Natural Light

Avoid dark, basement-like rooms. Ensure rooms have wide windows for fresh air and sunlight, which are vital for a healthy studying atmosphere.

9. Read the Refund Policy for Security Deposits

Ask for a written policy on the security deposit. How many days after check-out is it refunded? (Arya Boys PG guarantees refund within 7 days of checkout).

10. Chat with Existing Residents

Before leaving the building, talk to a couple of students in the lobby. Ask them: How is the food? Is the landlord supportive? Are there any hidden issues? Their honest feedback is your best guide.
